The link will show anyone who is collaborating on the presentation with you exactly where the slides came from.
What i'm thinking is that in the course of editing the various masters, the style masters possibly override the master master (i don't really know). On your computer, open a presentation in google slides. Click on the view tab of the ribbon. When you paste new slides into your presentation, link them to their original slide deck.
